November 2007 Halloween/ParadeAt the kids' school every year they have a "Literacy Day" Parade. The students get to pick their favorite book/character and dress up as that person. Matthew was the "Red Ranger" and Alyssa was-but of course-Hannah Montana. :-) They had a good time parading around the school and showing off their favorite book. All the kids looked so cute in their costumes and enjoyed getting out of class for about 45 minutes.
After the parade was over, I took Andrew and helped in Matthew's classroom. One of our local news casters was the "special guest reader" and read his favorite story to the Kindergartner's. They had a good time at their Halloween-oriented centers and enjoyed treats afterwards--a big hit and a nice beginning to the festivities of the day!
