Halloween/Parade

At the kids' school every year they have a "Literacy Day" Parade.  The students get to pick their favorite book/character and dress up as that person.  Matthew was the "Red Ranger" and Alyssa was-but of course-Hannah Montana. :-)  They had a good time parading around the school and showing off their favorite book.  All the kids looked so cute in their costumes and enjoyed getting out of class for about 45 minutes.

After the parade was over, I took Andrew and helped in Matthew's classroom.  One of our local news casters was the "special guest reader" and read his favorite story to the Kindergartner's.  They had a good time at their Halloween-oriented centers and enjoyed treats afterwards--a big hit and a nice beginning to the festivities of the day!

Hannah Montana Concert

For Alyssa's 8th birthday she had the privelege to see Hannah Montana in concert.  This was especially special because the concert fell on the actual day of her birthday-November 5th!  Since I didn't think to keep the concert a secret I decided to get her the special makeover at Libby Lu.  They sponsor Hannah Montana and had the makeover in honor of her concert.  Alyssa decided against the long wig (good choice) and opted for the clip in hair piece that matcher her hair perfect and had some pink highlights in it.  She looked adorable and was ready for the concert.  As soon as we got the to Savemart Center she was already excited.  We found our seats (which were awesome floor seats) and waited for the opening act.  She likes The Jonas Brothers as well so their performane was fun for her.  And after the dreadfully long 20 minute intermission, Hannah Montana came down singing in a pink box!!  Alyssa could not contain her excitement and was jumping up and down.  And I must admit that the adrenaline from all the screaming made me want to do the same but for obvious reasons, I couldn't :-)

The concert was a blast for me and I know it's something neither of us will soon forget.  It was a special birthday for her and the bonding we had was incredible!  I'm looking forward to many more birthdays with her!
